Sławomir Tadeja among winners of the international competition "Seeds for the Future"

Sławomir Tadeja, a doctoral student of the JU Faculty of Physics, Astronomy and Applied Computer Science is one of 12 Polish winners of the international competition "Seeds for the Future" organised by Huawei company. As a reward, he will take part in a technology workshop in China. The competition is aimed at promoting IT and communication technology, finding the most promising students in this field and providing them with opportunities to develop their talents.

The contest was open to students and doctoral students of telecommunication, computer science and electronics. The participants had an opportunity to write a thesis on one of selected topics, including Operational Programme Digital Poland, digitalisation, digital exclusion, smart cities, as well as the role of innovation in improving competitiveness in Poland.  

The winning paper by Sławomir Madeja was about the concept of a smart city. As a reward, he will take part in a technology workshop run by Huawei experts in Shenzen, China and pay a cultural visit to Beijing. The winner is working on a PhD thesis under the supervision of Prof. Paweł Moskal of the JU Department of Nuclear Physics. The competition at the Jagiellonian University was coordinated by Dr hab. Paweł Węgrzyn, the head of the Department of Games Technology.

The Jagiellonian University was one of 12 Polish higher education institutions taking part in the project.
