On 11 June 2018 the Jagiellonian University hosted a visit by the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to Poland Gul Hussain Ahmadi. The diplomat was received in Collegium Novum by the JU Rector Prof. Wojciech Nowak.
During his visit, Gul Hussain Ahmadi was accompanied by the Embassy’s First Secretary Mohammad Salim Zabardast. The meeting in Collegium Novum was also attended by the JU Rector’s Proxy for Internationalisation, Head of the JU Institute of the Middle and Far East Prof. Adam Jelonek.
The conversation focused on the prospects for the development of cooperation between the Jagiellonian University and Afghan institutions of higher education, in the general context of Polish-Afghan relations. The Ambassador thanked for the Polish support for his country and briefly discussed the current situation in Afghanistan, with special focus on security issues. The participants pledged to work to increase the number of Afghan students at the Jagiellonian University. Gul Hussain Ahmadi was invited to give a lecture at the JU Faculty of International and Political Studies.
After the meeting, the diplomats took a guided tour of the Jagiellonian University Museum Collegium Maius.
