JU biologist receives the MSCA fellowship

Dr Fedrica Zacchini from the JU Małopolska Centre of Biotechnology has been awarded with the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions fellowship within the Horizon 2020 EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation. Over next two years, she will by studying neurodevelopmental outcomes in offspring conceived by parents at advanced age, collaborating with two groups led by Dr. Alan Chan (University of Leiden) and Prof. Grażyna Ptak (Jagiellonian University).

Dr Fedrica Zacchini graduated in Biotechnology of Reproduction at the University of Teramo in 2008. In 2011, she received her PhD in Embryology for her thesis ‘Characterisation of monoparental and biparental sheep embryos’. In 2016–2018, she completed a post-doctoral internship at the Institute of Genetics and Animal Breeding of the Polish Academy of Sciences. Her academic interests include assisted reproductive technology, embryology, micromanipulation, and mouse surgery. She is currently employed at the Małopolska Centre of Biotechnology Developmental Biology Laboratory led by Prof. Grażyna Ptak.

The Marie Skłodowska-Curie actions (MSCA) provide grants for all stages of researchers' careers in order to encourage transnational, intersectoral and interdisciplinary mobility. They aim to equip researchers with the skills and international experience necessary for a successful career, both in public and private sector.  The MSCA enable research-focused organisations (universities, research centres, and companies) to host talented foreign researchers and to create strategic partnerships with leading institutions worldwide.
