University Hospital enters into partnership with Olympus

A landmark agreement between the University Hospital in Kraków and Olympus Corporation was signed in Collegium Novum. It envisages the establishment of the Olympus Regional Reference Centre at the University Hospital, which will provide physicians and students with access to cutting-edge technologies and innovative solutions in the field of endoscopy and allow the creation of the best training facility in this field in Central-Eastern Europe.

On March 2-3, the University was visited by Olympus delegation including Miquel Angel Garcia, General Manager of the Europe, Middle East and Africa Region, Kresimir Draskovic, General Manager Director of the East and Central Europe Region, and Tomasz Mrzygłód, Managing Director of Olympus Polska. On the first day, the Olympus executives visited the University Hospital and took a tour of its premises, including the Endoscopy Department and the operating theatres, equipped with the state-of-the-art operating room integration system Endoalpha – the only one in this part of Europe.

On 3 March, the delegation was received in Collegium Novum by the Rector of the Jagiellonian University Prof. Wojciech Nowak. During the meeting in the Rector’s Office, an agreement between the University Hospital in Kraków and Olympus Corporation was signed by the University Hospital Director Marcin Jędrychowski and the Olympus General Manager Miquel Angel Garcia. The meeting was also attended by the JU Vice-Rector of the Medical College Prof. Tomasz Grodzicki

The agreement envisages close cooperation between the institutions, including the creation of the Olympus Regional Reference Centre at the University Hospital and establishing the Olympus Academy – a system of comprehensive training in endoscopic surgery for students, nurses and physicians. The Hospital will also gain access to cutting-edge technologies, innovative solutions, as well as training courses in the world’s most prestigious medical centres.
