Official opening of the Academic Business Incubator

On Wednesday, 17 November 2015, the Academic Business Incubator, a new JU unit of the Jagiellonian University, aimed to be a space for people seeking inspiration and open for new business ideas, was officially opened.

The event was attended by Prof. Stanisław Kistryn, JU Vice-Rector for Research and Structural Funds, Prof. Andrzej Warczak, Dean of the Faculty of Physics, Astronomy and Applied Computer Science, and Dr hab. Jacek Ostaszewski, Dean of the Faculty of Management and Social Communication.

The opening address was delivered by Prof. Stanisław Kistryn. In his speech, he emphasises the importance of this type of institutions for education and preparing students for their further professional career.  He also expressed his satisfaction that the university can help its students take their first steps in entrepreneurship.

After ceremonial ribbon cutting, Dr Gabriela Konopka-Cupiał presented the offer of the Academic Business Incubator to the attending guests. The ABI is directed chiefly to start-ups, as it offers counselling for beginning businesspeople. The goal of ABI is to minimalise registration formalities and various fees, including taxes, while simultaneously providing support of experienced specialists. It also provides small businesses with co-working space, computer facilities and conference rooms.

The event was accompanied by a series of talks, lectures and workshops which concentrated on setting up companies, good practices, productivity and effectiveness as well as key requirements of a successful business.

The Academic Business Incubator is located at the Faculty of Mathematic and Computer Science on ul. Łojasiewcza 6.
