On 16 May 2016 the Rector of the Jagiellonian University Prof. Wojciech Nowak received the Ambassador of Bulgaria to Poland Emil Savov Yalnazov, who was accompanied by his wife Sylvia Yalnazova.
The meeting in Collegium Novum was also attended by a delegation from the JU Faculty of Philology, including the Dean Prof. Elżbieta Górska, the Head of the Institute of Slavonic Studies Dr hab. Magdalena Dyras, and the Head of the Department of Bulgarian and Macedonian Studies at this Institute Prof. Celina Juda.
The topics discussed during the meeting included Polish-Bulgarian relations with special focus on the area of culture and academia. In this context, Prof. Celina Juda presented the profile of the Department of Bulgarian and Macedonian Studies and discussed its research and educational activities. She also pointed to the well-developed collaboration between her department and Bulgarian institutions of higher education, which provides great opportunities for student exchange.
The participants stressed the necessity to continue and further develop the fruitful cooperation between the Jagiellonian University and Bulgarian institutions and declared their support for initiatives in this field.
