On May 18 Prof. Stanisław Kistryn, the JU Vice-Rector for Research and Structural Funds received a delegation from Kobe University led by Prof. Ogawa Matsuto, Executive Vice President in Charge of Research and Industry-University Cooperation.
The meeting was also attended by members of Kobe University international relations department: Sachiko Hoshimoto and Eri Anno, as well as several members of JU administrative staff: Krystian Gurba from CITTRU Centre of Technology Transfer, Tomasz Guzik of the Centre for Project Administrative Support, Dorota Maciejowska, head of the International Relations Office (IRO), and Małgorzata Nanke, the assistant of the Vice-Rector.
During the meeting, the participants discussed various aspects of research at both universities as well as systems of research funding in Poland and Japan. They expressed their hope that cooperation between the Jagiellonian University and the University of Kobe will be further strengthened in the years to come.
The meeting was part of the visit from Kobe, which also included the symposium "New Research Perspectives from Japan and Poland". It has been organised to commemorate the last year's establishment of Kobe University Liaison Office in Kraków at the Jagiellonian University Chair in Comparative Studies of Civilizations.
During their stay at the Jagiellonian University, the guests from Kobe also participated in a number of other meetings devoted to Polish-Japanese academic cooperation, including a meeting with the JU Vice-Rector for Educational Affairs and the head of JU IRO Dorota Maciejowska aimed to discuss prospects for receiving students from Kobe within the framework of a new exchange programme.
