Advanced medical simulations at the JU Medical College

On 28 November 2016, medical simulations featuring state-of-the-art imaging phantoms took place in the Conference Centre Faculty of Medicine of the JU Medical College. The presentations were organised in the form of practical classes with students open for a larger audience.

Thanks to the simulations of actual medical situations conducted in special rooms, future doctors, nurses and midwives will have the opportunity to learn basic practical skills and medical procedures in interdisciplinary teams in an environment much alike their future workplaces.

According to Dr Michał Nowakowski from the Department of Medical Teaching, using imaging phantoms will improve the quality of education, which in turn will be beneficial for future patients of the students.

Aside from imaging phantom presentation, the event also featured a class with a person trained to simulate the symptoms of a particular disease.

The presentation was organised within the framework of the ‘Knowledge Education Development’ Operational Programme informational meeting, attended by representatives of twelve Polish medical universities and the Ministry of Health.
