JU signs agreement with University of Novi Sad

A memorandum of understanding between the Jagiellonian University and the University of Novi Sad, Serbia, was signed on 11 May 2017. The agreement sets out a framework for collaboration between the two higher education institutions.

The document was signed in JU Collegium Novum by the Jagiellonian University Vice-Rector for Research and Structural Funds Prof. Stanisław Kistryn and the Rector of the University of Novi Sad Prof. Dušan Nikolić, who was accompanied by the Vice-Rector for Science Prof. Snežana Smederevac. The meeting was also attended by Director of the National Synchrotron Radiation Centre Solaris Prof. Marek Stankiewicz.

The participants stressed that the memorandum marks the start of a new chapter in mutual collaboration, which will be further developed at both university and faculty level.,

The delegation from the University of Novi Sad are on a two-day visit at the Jagiellonian University. On the first day, they have visited the Małopolska Centre of Biotechnology and the National Synchrotron Radiation Centre Solaris, and took a tour of the JU Museum Collegium Maius. On May 12, they will take part in the celebrations marking the Jagiellonian University Day.

The University of Novi Sad was established in 1960. It consists of 14 faculties, 9 of which are based in Novi Sad, the capital of Vojvodina province, and 5 of which are located in other cities: Subotica, Sombor and Zrenjanin. The university provides education to more than 50 thousand students, which makes it the second largest higher education institution in Serbia and one of the largest universities in Central Europe.
