JU delegation in China

JU delegation in China

On 3 December 2018, JU representatives set out to visit a number of Chinese higher education institutions. Their aim is to increase cooperation and strengthen ties between the Jagiellonian University and academic centres in China. The delegation is led by JU Rector Prof. Wojciech Nowak and JU Rector’s Proxy for Internationalisation Prof. Adam Jelonek.

Southern University of Science and Technology, Shenzen

On 3 December, a JU delegation met with the authorities of Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) in Shenzhen, China. The participants signed a letter of intent regarding double degree study programmes for two JU faculties as well as a general agreement on student and staff mobility. The meeting is the result of a previous visit of SUSTech representatives in Kraków.

The Jagiellonian University was represented by: Prof. Wojciech Nowak, JU Rector, Prof. Adam Jelonek, Rector's Proxy for Internationalisation, Prof. Wojciech Macyk, Vice-Dean of the JU Faculty of Chemistry, Prof. Franciszek Krok, Vice-Dean for the JU Faculty of Physics, and Dr Małgorzata Osińska, Director of the JU Confucius Institute in Kraków.

Sichuan University, Chengdu

On 4 December, JU representatives attended a meeting with the authorities of Sichuan University in Chengdu. The agreements signed by both parties were also concerned with the exchange of both students and staff as well as mutual popularisation of Polish and Chinese culture.

The Jagiellonian University was represented by: Prof. Wojciech Nowak, JU Rector, Prof. Adam Jelonek, Rector's Proxy for Internationalisation, Dr Małgorzata Osińska, Director of the JU Confucius Institute in Kraków, Han Xingzhong, Deputy Director of the JU Confucius Institute in Kraków, and Dr hab. Waldemar Martyniuk, Director of the Centre for Polish Language and Culture in the World.

The delegation also participated in the 13th Global Confucius Institute Conference and its advisory board meeting, which was led by the Vice Premier of China Sun Chunlan.

Shanghai International Studies University, Shanghai

On 6 December, the JU delegation visited the Shanghai International Studies University (SISU) in Shanghai, where they signed a letter of intent concerning establishing a double Bachelor's degree programme in Polish/European Studies and double Master's degree in European Studies. After the signing ceremony, prof. Nowak met with students of the Polish Language Class of SISU.
