On 22 May, the Jagiellonian University was visited by representatives from Henan, a province located in central China. The aim of the meeting was to discuss various ways of expanding collaboration between the Jagiellonian University and Chinese higher education institutions, businesses, and cultural organisations.
The Chinese delegation comprised Yu Hongqiu (Deputy Secretary, CPC Henan Provincial Committee), Fu Jing (Director General, Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of Henan Province), Zhang Yanming (Director General, Department of Commerce of Henan Province), Guan Minghua (Deputy Director, Development and Reform Commission of Henan Province), Lu Xueli (Deputy Director, General Office of CPC Henan Provincial Committee), Chen Wei (Deputy Director, Division of European and American Affairs, Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of CPC Henan Provincial Committee), Zhang Mingchao (Chairman, Henan Civil Aviation Development and Investment Co., Ltd.), and Wen Jiajia (Staff, Division of European and American Affairs, Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of CPC Henan Provincial Committee). The Jagiellonian University was represented by JU Rector Wojciech Nowak, JU Rector’s Proxy for Internationalisation Prof. Adam Jelonek, Director of JU Confucius Institute in Kraków Dr Bogdan Zemanek, and Deputy Director of JU Confucius Institute in Kraków Xingzhong Han.
The partnership with Henan institutions will include collaboration in the area of education and business. In the coming days, an agreement will be prepared, within the framework of which both parties will determine the exact details of the cooperation as well as its timeframe. The process will undobtedly be facilitated thanks to the numerous contacts established via the JU Confucius Institute, which last week was granted the model institute status.
