On 11–16 April 2015, a delegation from the Jagiellonian University visited Oman. The members of the delegation included Prof. Wojciech Nowak, JU Rector, Prof. Piotr Laidler, Vice-Rector for Medical College, and Prof. Barbara Michalak-Pikulska, Head of the Institute of Oriental Studies.
They had been invited by the representatives of the Ministry of Higher Education in recognition of the contribution of the Institute of Oriental Studies to research and teaching cooperation between Poland and Oman. The delegates met with Dr Rawiya Saud Albusaidi, Minister of Higher Education, and discussed further collaboration, particularly in the fields of medicine and language studies.
The delegation also visited the Sultan Quaboos University and the German University of Technology in Muscat. Prof. Wojciech Nowak was received by Rector Ali Saud Al-Bemani and Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salmi. During a meeting with the representatives of institutions interested in collaborating with the JU, Prof. Nowak delivered a speech on the role of universities in international relations, Prof. Laidler presented the medical study programmes at the Jagiellonian University, and Prof. Michalak-Pikulska talked about the JU's Arabic Studies.
The visit ended with a meeting with Dr Yahya Al-Mantari, President of the Omani parliament.
