Young researchers to do an internship at Stanford and Cambridge

The Ministry of Science and Higher Education has announced the winners of the 4th edition of the Top 500 Innovators programme. In the second half of 2015, the winners will be doing internships at some of the most famous universities in the world.

Top 500 Innovators is a programme directed to the staff of Polish science and technology transfer centres. It provides the participants with unique skills which allow them to conduct innovative research oriented towards contractors and aimed to be introduced  to the market.

319 candidates competed in the 4th edition of the programme, out of whom 180 finalists have been selected. During the qualification interviews, the committee assess the applicability and innovativeness of the candidate's research, his previous commercial successes, motivation, communication and teamwork skills as well as knowledge of English.

Among the winners there are 9 researchers from the Jagiellonian University:

  • Mr Łukasz Garlak (Jagiellonian Centre of Innovation),
  • Dr Krzysztof Tomaszewski (Faculty of Medicine),
  • Dr Klaudia Proniewska (Faculty of Medicine),
  • Ms Justyna Morawska-Płoskonka (Jagiellonian Centre of Innovation),
  • Lek. Anna Kańtoch (Faculty of Medicine),
  • Dr Przemysław Łabuz (Faculty of Chemistry),
  • Mr Krystian Gurba (Centre for Innovations, Technology Transfer and University Development),
  • Mr Konrad Gliściński (Jagiellonian Centre for Innovation),
  • Dr Elżbieta Świętek (Centre for Innovations, Technology Transfer and University Development).

The winners of the programme, divided into five groups, will do 9-week internships at Stanford University and the University of Cambridge.

Thanks to courses conducted by specialists and close cooperation with the most innovative businesses, the participants will learn how to successfully commercialise their research and develop soft skills.
