Tad Taube becomes an honorary doctor of the Jagiellonian University

On 12 June, the title of Doctor Honoris Causa of the Jagiellonian University was conferred upon Tad Taube, chairman of Taube Philanthropies and board president emeritus of the Koret Foundation in San Francisco. The philanthropist was awarded for his contributions to the revival of Jewish culture in Poland, particularly in Kraków, and promoting the history and culture of Polish Jews internationally.

Ambassador of Afghanistan visits the Jagiellonian University

On 11 June 2018 the Jagiellonian University hosted a visit by the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to Poland Gul Hussain Ahmadi. The diplomat was received in Collegium Novum by the JU Rector Prof. Wojciech Nowak.

New Korean Studies double degree programme with the Keimyung University

Starting in the academic year 2018/2019, the Jagiellonian University will introduce a new study programme in Korean Studies – the only one in Poland. It will be realised jointly with the Keimyung University in Daegu, South Korea. The programme will be taught entirely in English.

Global and Development Studies – a new study programme in English

BA in Global and Development Studies is a full time undergraduate interdisciplinary programme which aims to equip students with fundamental understanding of the processes of globalisation in various spheres of human activity: law, politics, economy, history, social relations, culture, and communication.

This year’s edition of the QS World University Ranking, which includes the best thousand higher education institutions in the entire world, features 14 such institutions from Poland. Of those, the Jagiellonian University holds the second highest position.

JU delegation visits archaeological site in Colorado

JU Vice-Rector for Educational Affairs Prof. Armen Edigarian as well as the Dean and the Vice-Dean of the JU Faculty of History Prof. Jan Święch and Prof. Stanisław Sroka have visited an archaeological site in Colorado (USA), where the JU Institute of Archaeology is currently conducting field research.
