The start of registration for programmes in 2015/2016 academic year

On Thursday 28 May 2015 at noon the registration has begun for first-, long- and second-cycle programmes and selected doctoral (third-cycle) programmes which follow the August-September admissions schedule (except for the registration for second-cycle programmes at the Faculty of Health Sciences which starts at 5 p.m.).

The results of a recent investigation of the Institut für Deutsche Ostarbeit revealed some previously unknown facts about the Nazi racial segregation in the area of Podhale. The research team is composed of scholars from the JU Institute of Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology, led by Dr Małgorzata Maj and Dr Stanisława Trebunia-Staszel.

According to the official results of the second turn of presidential election of 24 May 2015, announced by the State Electoral Commission, the staff member of the JU Faculty of Law and Administration Dr Andrzej Duda was elected President of Poland.

Prof. Stanisław Biernat awarded with honorary doctorate by the Friedrich-Schiller-University Jena

The conferment ceremony took place on 19 May 2015. Prof. Biernat received the diploma from Prof. Walter Rosenthal, President of the University of Jena, and Prof. Walter Pauly, Dean of the university's Faculty of Law.

The first step towards building the World ELF Radiolocation Array

The first measurement station built as part of the Polish World ELF Radiolocation Array project has recently become operational. The station was constructed by a research team consisting of specialists in the area of Extremely Low Frequencies (ELF) from the JU Astronomical Observatory and the AGH University of Science and Technology in collaboration with experts led by Dr. Marek Golkowski from the University of Colorado in Denver.
