On May 30-31, 2019, the annual European Alliance for Asian Studies (EAAS) meeting was held at the Jagiellonian University. This year the meeting was hosted by the Institute of Middle and Far East of the Jagiellonian University (IBiDW), a member of EAAS since 2018. During the two-day debates, international cooperation and future research projects were discussed.

A breakthrough in complex endometriosis treatment

Last week two operations on patients with deeply infiltrating endometriosis have been performed in the University Hospital in Kraków. The minimally invasive surgeries resulted in the complete removal of lesions. It is the first step towards the creation of the first nationwide centre for complex diagnosis and treatment of endometriosis and a new hope for women suffering from this disease.

On 31 May, renowned paediatric cardiac surgeons from Europe and the USA will participate in a training session that will further increase their already impressive skill in treating their patients. The international workshops are organised by Prof. Janusz Skalski and Prof. Tomasz Mroczek from the Children’s University Hospital of Cracow in collaboration with the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

On May 29 the Jagiellonian University signed the Student Exchange Agreement with the Beijing Union University (BUU) – a Chinese higher education institution administered by the municipal authorities of Beijing. The document was signed during a visit of the BUU delegation at the Jagiellonian University.
