On 15 May, the Jagiellonian University was visited by a delegation form Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania. During the meeting, a Letter of Intent was signed by the JU Rector’s Proxy for Internationalisation Prof. Adam Jelonek.

On May 11-15 the Jagiellonian University delegation, consisting of Prof. Adam Jelonek and Dr hab. Ewa Trojnar is taking part in the ASEF Rectors’ Conference and Student’s Forum in Bucharest. The Jagiellonian University is the only Polish higher education institution participating in the event.

12 May 2019 marked the 655th anniversary of the Jagiellionian University’s foundation by king Casimir the Great. The main celebrations were held on Friday, May 10, and included the presentation of Merentibus Medal to Professor Mario Suwalsky – a distinguished researcher from the University of Concepción, Chile and a former Polish Honorary Consul to Concepción.

An international group of researchers from the Malopolska Centre of Biotechnology at the Jagiellonian University have produce a super-stable artificial protein ball that apparently defies the rules of geometry and may have applications in materials science and medicine. The results of the research will be published in the forthcoming issue of Nature.

The Jagiellonian University was again recognised as one of the leading European higher education institutions in terms of innovation by Thomson Reuters. The oldest Polish university has retained 90th place in Top 100: Europe’s Most Innovative Universities and is still the only institution from Poland and the entire Central-Eastern Europe included on this prestigious list.
