Jagiellonian University once again ranked as best in Poland

The Jagiellonian University and the University of Warsaw took joint first place in the Polish higher education institutions ranking by the Perspektywy Education Foundation “Perspektywy 2018”. It has happened for the third time since the ranking was first published 19 years ago. The third place was taken by Warsaw University of Technology.

iPlasticity – rejuvenation of the brain?

Can the brain of an adult regain the learning capability of a child? The answer seems to be positive. The phenomenon known as iPlasticity, investigated by Eero Castrén from the University of Helsinki, is related to the use of antidepressant drugs, which can help a mature brain regain its “youthful” plasticity.

JU professor chosen as the new president of EAPCI ESC

On 22 May, Prof. Dariusz Dudek became president-elect of the European Association of Percutaneous Cardiovascular Interventions of the European Society of Cardiology (EAPCI ESC). It is the first time a Pole was chosen for this position.

ACT (Communities of Practice for Accelerating Gender Equality and Institutional Change in Research and Innovation across Europe) is a Coordination and Support Action project funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme to advance gender equality at research performing organisations and research funding organisations.

Jagiellonian University professor presented with a Turkish medal

On 11 May 2018, at a ceremony in Turkish embassy to Warsaw, a medal of merit was presented to Prof. Stanisław Stachowski, a retired academic from the Jagiellonian University Institute of Oriental Studies.
