JU researcher co-authors Nature paper on using AI to predict chemical reactions

On 15 November 2023 the article ‘Computational prediction of complex cationic rearrangement outcomes’ was published in the prestigious international journal Nature. The paper devoted to the use of pioneering artificial intelligence methods in predicting chemical reaction mechanisms and outcomes was co-authored by Dr Sebastian Baś from the Jagiellonian University Institute of Chemistry.

Prof. Jacek Purchla to preside over the jury of Europa Nostra Awards

Prof. Jacek Purchla was chosen to become the new president of the jury of the European Heritage Awards, the most prestigious award in the area of European cultural heritage presented since 2002 by Europa Nostra. Prof. Purchla has been the vice-president of the organisation since 2018.

Professor Anetta Undas joins Academia Europaea

Prof. Anetta Undas from the JU MC Faculty of Medicine has become a member of Academia Europaea, a prestigious organisation bringing together more than 5,000 researchers from various disciplines. Prof. Undas is the fifth representative of the Jagiellonian University academic community to be invited into the organisation.

Prof. Stanisław Sroka honoured with the Ludovika Prize

On 6 November 2023 the first Ludovika Prize award ceremony was held at the Ludovika University of Public Service in Budapest. The award was presented to Professor Stanisław Sroka, Dean of the JU Faculty of History of the Jagiellonian University in Kraków.

SOLARIS research to investigate why parrots have colourful fearthers

Multicolour plumage of parrots inspires admiration and delight, but where do all these colours come from? What caused birds to develop such a wide variety of colours and how has it evolved throughout their evolution? These questions will be investigated by a research team led by Dr Miguela Carneiro from the CIBIO (Research Centre in Biodiversity and Genetic Resources - InBIO Associate Laboratory) in Portugal.

We know the results of the GRAS 2023 ranking

The results of the latest discipline ranking of the best universities in the world - Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS) - were announced by the independent organisation ShanghaiRanking Consultancy, also responsible for the Shanghai List. In this year's edition, the Jagiellonian University was noted in 12 disciplines.

Jagiellonian University in THE World University Rankings by Subject 2024

In late October, Times Higher Education published the latest edition of the annual World University Rankings by Subject. The Jagiellonian University was included in ten out of eleven categories, while taking leading positions amongst Polish universities in seven of them.
